A few days in Fes

Two of Tasha’s friends recently came to visit us here. I don’t know if you realize, but we really enjoy having visitors. It’s a good way to reconnect with people that we don’t’ get to see very often. One of the things they wanted to do was go to Fes for a tour. Because Matthew knows the medina pretty well, he gave them the tour. Everyone was pretty relieved because one of the girls had come to the medina of Fes with Tasha before. They got hopelessly lost. But no one got lost with Matthew giving the tour. :)

The friends brought a lot of magazines for us. Getting magazines is always exciting because it’s something new to read in English. We can’t get anything in English were we live – not enough foreigners come through or live in the town we live in. They are mostly pregnancy or parenting magazines and Matthew enjoys reading them, although they also make him wonder what he is really getting into. The other interesting thing in reading these magazines is they are a big reminder how out of touch we are with popular culture in America. For instance, the movement towards being green hadn’t really started the last time we were there but now it seems to be the biggest thing!
